In my last post, I discussed why companies should not hire a candidate based upon their connections, but for what they know. However, there is another option that many companies tend to overlook when hiring a candidate—potential.

I think companies miss out on hiring a lot of talented people because they cannot think outside of the box. Companies have a bad habit of classifying whether someone is capable of performing a job based upon their level of education or because they do not have a background in a particular industry.
